Brunswick are a Canadian company that state on the tin “since 1893” and a proud history. There is a video of this on the site http://www.brunswicksardines.ca/brunswick-sardine-history which illustrates the Connors Brothers history and current site of the largest sardine processing plant in the world.
Ingredients = sardine filets, natural smoke flavouring,
Boneless
Packaging is ok. Long tin with a plastic wrapper. Tartan
In tin appearance: unappealing – grey milky water and white and grey fillets
Texture: firm and wet. Not oily at all.
Very mild flavour. Smokiness is mild.
Aftertaste: slight. Doesn’t repeat
Overall: doesn’t feel luxury and not appetising in appearance.
Has more of a “camping/survival” food
[I ate with buttered toast and was too bland. Added sambal oelek which picked it up.]
Suggestion:
Could get good if heated / used in a dish – kedgeree perhaps?
Score 4/10
Price (2024): Inexpensive (bought in Canada for around £1/tin)
